Where union leaders, experts, and changemakers come together to shape a worker-driven and democratic digital transformation of the future workplace. Through keynote presentations, roundtable discussions, and cross-border collaboration, the summit offers a space for fresh insights, bold ideas, and joint strategies. Together, we will explore how to uphold the Nordic model in the digital age and secure real influence over how AI is introduced, governed, and negotiated at work.

FEPS Fringe Event:Algorithmic Rule - an Author Conversation Editors Simon Vinge, Chief Economist, Union for Professionals, Akademikerförbundet SSR and Maja Fjaestad, Senior Advisor to the President at KI. Associate professor, former Swedish State Secretary for Health. Moderated by Monty Aal, Digital Policy Analyst at FEPS.
How AI and algorithmic decision-making are reshaping work, public administration, and democratic governance:
As employers and governments in Sweden and beyond increasingly rely on automated decision-making,the book asks critical questions about power, transparency, surveillance, and workers’ rights. It explores real-world algorithmic failures, highlighting what is at stake when democratic control is ceded to technology and Big Tech. Crucially for unions, the book looks ahead to how collective action, regulation, and worker influence over technology can help ensure that the Nordic Way remains viable in the age of AI.
This conversation is organised in the context of the FEPS-Nordic Digital Programme, a collaborative research and policy initiative led by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) in cooperation with Nordic think tanks and trade unions.
